Notes
How do you break up chocolate bark?
What if you can’t break up chocolate bark? Chocolate bark is more straightforward to break up than you might think. Hold the chocolate with foil so you don’t leave messy fingerprints on it.
From there, you can break it apart with your hands! Use a wooden spoon if the bark is too thick and stubborn.
What is the best way to store chocolate bark?
I recommend storing any leftover chocolate bark in an airtight container. You’re welcome to wrap each piece individually in plastic or parchment paper. This will help keep each piece additionally fresh.
The bark will keep at room temperature for roughly 5-7 days. The bark should stay fresh for 2-3 weeks if stored in the refrigerator.
Can chocolate bark be frozen?
Yes! This chocolate bark freezes well. I recommend wrapping each piece of bark in plastic wrap or parchment paper. I like to place the individually wrapped pieces in a gallon-size freezer bag. The chocolate bark should be good for about 6 months if properly wrapped and stored in the freezer.
What toppings can be used to decorate the chocolate bark?
What’s fun about this recipe is its versatility. I made this recipe for Valentine’s Day, so I used red/pink sprinkles and white/pink chocolate pearls. Here are some fun and delicious ideas if you want to make this chocolate bark recipe with other colored decorations and new flavors.
- Finely chopped nuts – Almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, peanuts, cashews, or walnuts – add additional protein and a savory crunch!
- Drizzled with melted white or dark chocolate, topped with sea salt
- Topped with finely ground hemp seeds
- Dried fruit – Cherries, goji berries, apricots, raisins, or dried cranberries – would be great options for added fiber!
- Drizzled with melted peanut butter or melted peanut butter cups
- Topped with shredded coconut
- To make peppermint bark, add a little peppermint oil to the melted chocolate. Yum!
